My child is a beginner / loves to tumble do handstands, etc – What class should s/he be in?We organise our classes by age first. Recreational A is for prep to 7 years old, Recreational B for 7 - 8 years old, Intermediate is for 8 - 10 years old and the Advance Recreational is for gymnasts 10+ years old. We find that gymnasts of all age groups have differing skill levels. Our GymStar program is selection based program and throughout the year the gymnasts are given the opportunity to learn routines on six major apparatus

What payment methods are there?We take payment by EFTPOS, credit card, or bank transfer. We do not accept cash.

How do I enrol my child/renTo enrol, call, email, or drop by the gym any time we’re open. If there is a place available in your preferred class your child can be enrolled immediately, if not your details can be put on the waiting list.

Do the gymnasts participate in Competitions or Displays?Once a year there is a Gymnastics For All Competition usually held in term 3. This will be advertised through the club leading up to registrations. Gymnasts have the option to participate, participation is not compulsory and there is no pressure involved. Kaygees has an end of year Display Day which we encourage all gymnasts to participate in. It gives the gymnasts a chance to show their friends and families their new skills.

Are there waiting lists?There are waiting lists for many of our classes. Each waiting list varies in size dependent upon demand at any one time. If your preferred class is not available we can place your child on the waitlist for the prefered class. When a place becomes available we will contact you via email to organise a free trial class

What should my child wear?Gymnasts should wear comfortable clothes. No belts, buckles, bulky zips, jeans or jewellery. Medical tape can be put over new earrings. Hair needs to be pulled back out of the face. Club T Shirts and leotards are available for purchase, however these are not required for normal classes. Shoes and socks are left in the cubbies in the foyer prior to beginning class, except for trampolinists who wear socks.

Are the coaches accredited?Coaches are all accredited, or are in the process of becoming accredited. Classes that are run by unaccredited coaches are supervised by an accredited coach. All coaches over eighteen are required to have current working with children police checks and first aid training. We run an apprentice coach scheme where gymnasts 13 and up can train to become coaches gaining experience by assisting our accredited coaches.

What does a normal class Involve?Beginning with a warm up game or circuit, the class will participate in a rotation of three or four different apparatus – learning and practicing skills on these. Our major equipment / apparatus include parallel and uneven bars, rings, beams of varying heights, floor, tumbletrack and vaulting areas. Gymnasts spend the last ten minutes or so cooling down and stretching.

Do I pay per class or by the term?Classes are paid by Term, not casually, and calculated pro-rata. There is an annual Gymnastics Victoria Membership that we require you to have, we will organise this for you. The gymnastics Victoria membership includes registration, injury insurance and supports the profession. Each child is entitled to one trial class before committing to and paying for a full term. Discounts apply to concession card holders, subsequent children of the same family, multiple class and anyone who pays their fees in full by the specified due date each term.

How many gymnasts per class?There are up to 8 gymnasts in each general gym class. Trampoline classes range from 4 per beginner class to 6 in the intermediate and advanced classes.

Who owns Kaygees?No one owns Kaygees. We are not-for-profit organisation by a volunteer Committee of Management made up of coaches, our office manager, and volunteer parents who dedicate hours of work to the smooth running of the club. We are always looking for more parents to help out on the committee and with short-term projects and fundraising.
